Ingredients :-

Tomato (roughly chopped) | 4 - 5 |
Toor dal | ½ cup |
Turmeric powder | ¼ tsp |
Chilli powder | 1 tsp |
Castor Oil | ¼ tsp |
Cumin | ¼ tsp |
Curry leaves | few |
Red Chillies | 4 |
Salt | to taste |
Method :-

1). In a pressure cooker, add toor dal, roughly chopped tomato, turmeric powder, chilli powder, 1/4 tsp castor oil, salt, 2 cups of water and close the lid. Pressure cook till dal become soft.
2). Leave it for 2-3 whistles and switch off. Once the pressure releases, mash the cooked dal and tomato together using laddle/masher.
3). Heat oil in a pan to do the seasoning. Add cumin, curry leaves and red chillies and saute till aroma arises. Pour this seasoning on top of the sambar and mix together.
Done ! Simple and delicious sambar is ready. I served this delectable sambar with Idli's.
