How to boil and peel hard-boiled Eggs



Boiling eggs can have a significant impact on how to peel them easily. Check out the below tips to boil and peel the eggs :-
 

Boil the egg :-

1). Place your eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. There should be about two inches of water over the top of the eggs. Add a tsp of salt to the water and cook for approximately 12 minutes. 

2). Drain eggs from the pan and immediately transfer to a cool bowl. Run cold water over the eggs for a minute and then let the eggs sit in the water until cool.  

3). Once the eggs have cooled, remove them from the water and pat dry with some paper towel.

Sometimes hard boiled eggs are very hard to peel. Check these easy steps :-

Method 1 using crack shell method :-

This is the basic method which most of us follow. 

1). Take an egg and firmly tap each end on a hard surface to crack the shell. Starting at the wide end with the air pocket, begin peeling the egg, using the side of your thumb. You should remove both the shell and the white, filmy membrane, to reveal the smooth, shiny egg white underneath.

Method 2 using rolling method :-

1. Crack the shell at each end by firmly tapping the egg onto a hard surface such as a counter. Do one end, and then the other. Tapping the eggs helps to break the membrane for easy peeling.

2. Place the side of the egg on a counter and roll forward for one revolution with your palm firmly down on the top of the egg. Roll the egg between your hands to help loosen the membrane. Gently peel the membrane and shell from the eggs. 
Method 3 using spoon :-

1. Cut boiled egg in half with a sharp knife.
2. Scoop out the egg with a spoon (like Avocado). Be careful not to damage the egg during the process. 
Method 4 - Shake method :-
-----------------------------------
# Put the boiled egg into a glass and add some water. Close the top of the glass and vigorously shake it. The egg shell will be broken into pieces, rinse in water.

TIPS :-

# Don't over-boil the egg. If you do, the shell will fracture into hundreds of very small pieces and not peel easily at all. Worse, the interior of the shell may stick to the egg, and you will end up peeling part of the egg away with the shell.  

# Put salt in the water before boiling. The eggs will be easier to peel, the salt stops the egg from leaking out if the egg cracks while boiling and adds to the flavor too.  

# Older eggs are easier to peel. If you can avoid boiling the eggs on the same day you buy them, do it!.  

# Very fresh eggs can be difficult to peel. To ensure easily peeled eggs, buy and refrigerate them a week to 10 days in advance of cooking. 

# Adding a little vinegar or baking soda to the water may further ease the peeling process. Make sure you don't add too much or it may affect the flavor of the egg white.

Eggs Cracking and prevention:-

The bottom, rounded end of an egg contains a small air bubble. As the egg heats up, the air inside the bubble expands. As the hot air pushes outwards, it puts pressure onto the shell, making it crack. You can prevent this by making a pin-pick in the bottom rounded end of the egg. This will let the expanding air escape. 

You can also prevent cracking by letting eggs come to room temperature before cooking them. Add the eggs to tap water and then apply the heat. Do not add eggs directly into boiling water.
