This is specially dedicated to my dad. He celebrated his bday yesterday(28th Nov), he loves these tiffin varieties.
Ingredients :-
-------------------
Left-over Idli | 4 - 5 |
Onion (finely chopped) | 1 |
Tomato (finely chopped) | 2 |
Green Peas(frozen) | ¼ cup |
Garlic (finely chopped) | 4 pods |
Chilli powder | 1 tsp |
Coriander powder | 1 tsp |
Turmeric powder | ¼ tsp |
Mustard | ¼ tsp |
Cumin | ½ tsp |
Oil | 1 tsp |
Coriander leaves | for garnishing |
Salt | to taste |
------------
1). Cut the idli into bite-size pieces and deep fry them in oil until golden brown. Drain them in paper towels and keep it aside.
4). Add 1/2 cup of water and allow the gravy to boil in low flame. Don't make it dry, let the gravy be in watery consistency so that the idli's absorbs the masala, become moist and spongy. Finally add the fried idli's and toss it well. Let the idli's coat well in the masala.
Drizzle lemon juice on top and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with Raita !
Notes :-
-----------
# Use refrigerated idli's for best results. It absorbs less oil and doesn't stick to each other while deep-frying.
# You can also add capsicum along with green peas and saute.
# I used frozen peas. If you are using dry peas, pressure cook it for 2 whistles.
