Idli Manchurian | இட்லி மஞ்சூரியன்

Idli Manchurian is a very easy, quick and guilt free recipe. Enjoy this absolutely lip smacking recipe as an appetizer or evening snack or even for dinner. I prefer baking than deep-frying. The taste was almost equivalent to the taste of the deep-fried idlies. This is my way of using the left-over idlies. You can either deep-fry it in oil or bake it in the oven.

Ingredients :-
-----------------
 Idli   6
 Onion(finely chopped)  1
 All purpose flour   1 cup
 Cornflour   ½ cup + 1 tbsp
 Chilli powder   ½ tsp
 Ginger garlic paste   1 tsp
 Tomato Ketchup   1 tbsp
 Soy Sauce   1 tsp
 Chilli sauce   1 tsp
 Sugar    1 tsp
 Oil   1 tsp
 Salt   to taste

Method :-

-------------
1). Preheat oven to 375F. Cube the idlies and keep it aside. In a mixing bowl, combine all purpose flour, cornflour(
½ cup), salt, Chilli powder and water to a thick batter.
2). Toss in the chopped idlies and spread it on a baking sheet(aluminum foil / tray), then coat with some oil spray. Place in oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or till golden and crispy.
3). Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan and add the onions and saute till they turn light brown. Mix in the ginger garlic paste and saute for 3-4 minutes or till the raw smell goes.
4). Add the tomato sauce, soy sauce, chilli sauce, salt, sugar and mix well. Then add the cornflour mixture(cornflour 1 tbsp mixed in ½ cup water) and mix well.
5). When they are heated through add the baked idli pieces and combine well till the idlies are coated with the sauce . Switch off the flame !
Garnish with spring onion tops and serve hot!

Notes :-
----------
# Baking time may vary, depending on the type of the Oven. Adjust accordingly.
# Refrigerated Idli's suits best for this recipe. Also it is easy to cut into pieces.
# You can also include veggies like capsicum and peas while sauteing the masala.
