Thogayal Rasam is known for its tangy, spicy and tasty flavors. Rasam is an integral part of a meal in Tamilnadu. There are so many varieties of rasam which I have already shared. Do check them out :-

Method :-

1). In a mixer, add coconut, garlic, red chilies and grind it to a coarse paste adding little water. After taking the thogayal, add a cup of water to the mixer and reserve this liquid for preparing rasam. In a bowl take this liquid along with a tbsp of thogayal and keep aside. Soak tamarind and extract its juice, keep aside.
2). Heat oil in a pan, add mustard, green chilies, curry leaves and saute till onions turn translucent. Add the crushed garlic and saute till the raw smell goes.
3). Add the tamarind extract and bring it to boil. Then add turmeric powder, rasam powder and salt.
4). When it comes to a rolling boil add the thogayal water along with pepper powder. When it becomes frothy, switch off and garnish with coriander leaves.
Serve hot with steamed rice and poriyal
