To Roast and grind :-

1). Wash, peel the skin and de-seed chow chow. Cube it and cook it water until it becomes tender. Switch off and let it cool.
2). Roast and grind - Heat oil in a pan, add cumin, channa dal, pepper corns and saute till fragrant. Then add onions, red chillies, salt and saute till they turn golden brown. Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, grated coconut and give a quick stir and switch off.
3). Let the above sauteed masala cool and then grind it to a smooth paste. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard, urad dal, channa dal and saute till golden brown. Add onions and saute till translucent. Add tomatoes and saute till it becomes mushy. Then add boiled chow chow to this.
4). Add the grounded masala along with cup of water. Check for salt and spices, bring it boil. When it boils briskly, switch off and garnish with coriander leaves.
