Simple Gotsu is a gravy that goes well with tiffin varieties. This gotsu is my dad's favorite. My mom prepares it with shallots, but, I have substituted it with big onions.

Onion (finely chopped) | 1 |
Tomatoes (finely chopped) | 2 |
Green Chillies | 5 |
Curry leaves | few |
Hing | pinch |
Turmeric powder | ¼ tsp |
Sambar powder | 1 tsp |
Oil | 2 tsp |
Channa dal | 1 tsp |
Urad dal | 1 tsp |
Mustard | ¼ tsp |
Salt | to taste |
Method :-

2). Saute the tomatoes till it becomes mushy. Then add 1 cup of water along with salt, mix well and let it boil.
3). When it begins to boil, add turmeric powder, sambar powder and allow it to cook in low flame until the gotsu thickens and oil separates to the top. Switch off !
Gotsu is ready ! Serve with Idli / Dosa variety.

# Add extra water/tamarind extract if you prefer the gravy to be thinner.
